Don`t let
India down!
Recents Anna`s remarks:
I am really concerned about
the prospect of the neo-political party(AAP). Moreover, Anna Hazare`s
constantly wavering remarks about Arvind Kejriwal & his new political
outfit just adds fuel to the fire. Now, nobody is concerned regarding whom Anna
castes his vote. Everybody knows each individual has the liberty to choose the
candidate, whom he wants to vote and one shouldn’t influence others while
making their choices, as it is called secret ballot.
Great Irony:
It`s a higher degree of irony
that when people having clean image don`t come into politics, we say that the
Politics is a game full of dirt and trickery but if people like Kejriwal
ventures into the so-called dirty game, instead of appreciation, he is baptized
with phrases like `Power hungry`, `Fascist` and many more.
What the Irony is:
Now, we should pause for some time and try to
figure out what this irony tells. As far as I could reflect on it, there are
two things involved here. Why Politics is called a dirty game? One argument
could be : it is inherently dirty, so it breeds dirt and other counter argument
could be as good and honest people restrain themselves from the Politics, that
is why it has become a playground for the goons and criminals. Here, I remember
a beautiful line that goes to say : The World has become a bad place, not
because of the bad actions perpetrated by the evil-minded people but due to the
reluctance of good people to perform or do good deeds. Now a days, it is more
worrying that these Sophisticated/good/honest people don`t even think necessary
to participate in the political processes (voting in elections) , which is
crucial and determines what type of Govt. we are going to have. So, before
decrying/condemning others, we should be cautious about our obligation.
Anna – Arvind a natural
Combination
Now, get back to Anna`s argument about political awareness and
Kejriwal`s idea of Political revolution. Anna asserts that there should be a
nationwide political awareness movement by pan-india
tour/fasts/lectures/congregations etal. In no way, I discount the efficacy of
these modules in the enhancement of the political awareness of our people but I
do have my genuine misgiving about how that will alter the political scenario,
if it can, I am quite sure that change will not be to the extent that we
require. I try to explore this. Political awareness movement (not get mistaken
by political movements which is altogether different from Anna`s movement) can
create conducive political atmosphere, which in the absence of a
standard/bonafide political outfit: out for the fulfillment of the aspirations
of the people, can’t produce the desired results. At the same time lack of
political awareness will make people seriously handicapped in making good
choices of politicians and to the great extent in understanding Arvind` vision.
I think Anna & Arvind both are necessary and complementary for the cause of
the political evolution in India that we people are aspiring for. So, for the
sake of the betterment and the bright future of the country, they should bury
their differences and work together, otherwise it would amount to the abortion
of the hope, which they conceived together for the fellow countrymen of Corruption
free INDIA.
